Kölner Klopfer

The Kölner Klopfer is an annual design award founded in 1996 by students of the “Köln International School of Design” (KISD). Unique in its approach, the Klopfer is entirely student-organized and voted upon, celebrating outstanding work in the field of design. The award was inspired by the “Bambi” television award, with the name “Klopfer” (Knocker) referencing Bambi’s friend from the classic Walt Disney movie. More than just an accolade for exceptional creativity, the Klopfer offers a distinctive platform to honor visionary designers through a lively award ceremony and exhibition. This event fosters connections between students and professionals, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing, enriching both parties. After a two-year break, the students are reviving the cherished tradition of the Kölner Klopfer. This year, a small group of students is not only bringing the award back but also creating a fresh visual identity for it.
